Introduce about Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel

The game was developed by Konami and released in 2003. The game is taken from the popular manga series Yu-Gi-Oh!. Although it originated in Japan, it is accepted by Western countries. They even hold tournaments and are applying VR technology to actualize cards like in the manga. And this is also one of the Yu-Gi-Oh! for the first time on the Game Boy Advance game machines.

The story

Although this is a card collecting game, it also has the same plot as in the manga. Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel is set at the start of the tournament in Battle City. At this point, you will have to fight Marik’s puppets and collect powerful cards from him to win this tournament.

Gameplay

Your main task is to focus on the tournament and collect powerful cards through magic card battles. At the beginning of the game, you will be given 1 of 3 decks that the system offers. You can customize more or less cards to create a combo as you like. But the deck must have a minimum of 40 cards and no more than 80 cards.

The magic duel format is also quite simple, each side will start with 8000 life points. You must use your monster cards to attack your opponent. Whoever’s life point reaches 0 first, that side loses the game. In addition, you can also use magic cards to support and reverse the game, so don’t forget to put them in your deck.

Modes

Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel has 5 main modes which are:

  • Challenge Cup: Monthly event. The tournament will have three rounds and you will meet a random opponent on the map.
  • KaibaCorp Cup: The event is similar to the Challenge Cup, but it only appears in the 10th zone on the map.
  • Weekend Tournaments: You will play against a random player.
  • Limitation Tournaments: There are 10 rounds and you can only use the deck provided by the tournament.
  • Target Week: Held once a week and you will meet one of the players in Battle City.

Cards

To get more cards, you only have three ways. One is that you use the codes to receive the card in the password menu. The second way is to use the points earned through matches. The game has a shop for you to use points to buy card packs and you will receive a random number of cards. Finally, you can randomly receive a card when you win a battle in Battle City.

Graphics

Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel has simple graphics, and so are the cards. If you don’t click to see details, the card image is only black. However, in the bottom corner of the screen still shows the index and card name. As you know, these are the first games about Yu-Gi-Oh!, and its size is only a few megabytes, so the details are very simple. The publisher also wants to be widely popular from young children to the elderly, so the game design must be very simple so that all ages can play.
